Walt Shurden | Elder Law Attorney
Walt Shurden is a Board Certified Elder Law Attorney with over 25 years of dedicated experience in the field. He specializes in Estate Planning, Medicaid eligibility and qualification for seniors and disabled individuals, as well as Probate and Trust Administration.
Walt graduated from high school in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1981. After serving three years in the Marines, he attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance in 1988. Following a year of postgraduate study at Georgia College, Walt worked for six years in the Atlanta area as an accountant, during which time he became a Georgia Certified Public Accountant.
In 1998, Walt graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He achieved Board Certification in Elder Law from the Florida Bar in June 2004. In addition to his legal practice, Walt has served on the boards of two nonprofit organizations in Pinellas County and has been an active member of the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) committee of the Florida Bar. He frequently speaks to senior church and community groups, sharing his knowledge and expertise in elder law.

Jennifer Ake has been a valuable member of our team since 2004, serving as the firm’s Medicaid and Probate Paralegal. In addition to her paralegal responsibilities, she manages the day-to-day administrative duties that keep our operations running smoothly.
A true Floridian, Jennifer graduated from Seminole High School and earned an Associate Degree from St. Petersburg College in 2007. She became a Florida Registered Paralegal in 2018, further solidifying her expertise in the field.
Jennifer married in 2013 and is the proud stepmother of two grown children, as well as a devoted mother to three beloved “four-legged” companions.
